A Pin is used in the Giraffe™ OmniBed tilt platform assembly, where it is used to lock the plunger and spring with tilt platform on both sides. The pin is used to release the tilt platform from the chassis by pushing the pivot pin tabs available on both the sides. It can also be used to lift the tilt platform out of the chassis. This special purpose pin is made up of a stainless steel material. It is an iron-based alloy, which contains a minimum of chromium of around 10.5 percent. Chromium in the composition with a passivated finish provides better corrosive resistance, as well as helping to resist scaling at elevated temperatures.
