Supply chain disruptions continue to impact the world. Our commitment to serving your organization remains our highest priority. Our team continues to actively monitor backorders and engage with our suppliers on resolutions. Below are the recent trends we would like to share with you:
 
Supply Chain Trends
  • Batteries, patient monitoring, beds and tables continue to be the top modalities affected by the supply chain disruptions. In fact, one supplier noted that patient monitoring accounted for over 70% of their backlogged items.
  • Raw material shortages, like what the industry is experiencing with medical grade stainless steel, are impacting the availability of certain products. Stainless steel is used in the manufacturing of footboard assembly kits and in the tubes and rods that make up head and foot cylinders. As access to this material becomes limited, we have seen an increase in the backorders on these products.
  • Wait times are also impacting the availability of materials and goods. It is taking about 100 days for U.S. manufacturers to receive materials, which is the longest amount in 35 years.*
  • Low inventory and the delayed restocking of goods was a main driver in the U.S. economy shrinking by 1.4% in the first quarter of 2022. COVID shutdowns in China are causing fewer products to be made and resulting in longer shipping times. These disruptions are expected to worsen in the coming months.*
